What is the SilverSneakers program?

SilverSneakers is a health and fitness program for seniors offered through participating health plans. It’s is a nationally-recognized exercise program designed to help adults aged 65 and over stay active and healthy. It provides access to a network of gyms, fitness centers, and other recreational facilities across the country. It also offers its members fun, social activities such as group fitness classes, swimming, walking clubs, yoga, and more. SilverSneakers encourages members to participate in activities that keep them healthy while meeting new people and having fun. It’s an excellent way for seniors to stay fit without breaking the bank.

Does Original Medicare cover SilverSneakers membership?

SilverSneakers is designed to help seniors stay active and healthy. SilverSneakers offers access to participating gyms and fitness centers, classes, workshops, and activities. Original Medicare doesn’t provide SilverSneakers memberships to Medicare beneficiaries. While Medicare coverage does not include the cost of memberships, there are other options for seniors who want to take advantage of the program. 

Many Medicare plans offer discounts or reimbursements for the membership. Additionally, some employers may provide free or discounted access to SilverSneakers as part of their employee benefits package. Some local organizations that offer free or discounted Silver Sneakers memberships for seniors in their area.

How much does SilverSneakers cost?

Will a Medicare Supplement Plan or Medicare Advantage Plan offer SilverSneakers?
